Food packaging
Food packaging is the enclosing of food that requires protection from tampering, whether by physical, chemicals, or biological needs. It also shows the product that is labeled to show any nutrition information on the food being consumed.
Types and weight
Paper is often characterized by weight. The weight assigned to a paper is the weight of a ream (500 sheets) of varying "basic sizes", before the paper is cut into the size it is sold to end customers. For example, a ream of 20 lb, 8½ x 11" paper weighs 5 pounds, because it has been cut from a larger sheet into four pieces. [8] In the United States, printing paper is generally 20 lb, 24 lb, or 32 lb at most. Cover stock is generally 68 lb, and 110 lb or more is considered card stock.
Paper
Paper is thin material mainly used for writing upon, printing upon or packaging. It is produced by the amalgamation of fibers, typically vegetable fibers composed of cellulose, which are subsequently held together by hydrogen bonding. While the fibers are usually natural in origin, a wide variety of synthetic fibers, such as polypropylene and polyethylene, may be incorporated into paper as a way of imparting desirable physical properties. The most common source of these kinds of fibers is wood pulp from

Papernuts : Protective Packaging & Packaging Paper, Packaging Products
The mission of PaperNuts® is to produce effective, useful packaging products for use by shippers and consumers in order to reduce environmental pollution without sacrificing safe product shipment and storage. Some examples of our products include: PaperNuts®, Recycled Kraft Paper, and Gray Bogus paper.
What are PaperNuts®?
PaperNuts® is a new loose fill that is a superior alternative to expanded polystyrene and cornstarch derivatives. Made from 100% recycled materials, this product is both biodegradable and fully recyclable after use. It is clean, safe, non-polluting and low in particulates. PaperNuts® are welcomed by the vast majority of people who open packages, only to be disgusted by the annoyance and inconveniences of static and waste associated with polystyrene products, and frustrated by the contamination of their work and receiving areas caused by plastic loose fill and the dust it generates.
PaperNuts® offer many performance benefits: It produces little dust, it expands rather than settles during shipment, and eliminates product migration. PaperNuts® are not edible, unlike degradable starch peanuts which appeal to rodents, encouraging them to eat through the boxes and damage products. PaperNuts® will not become "gummy" like starch products when exposed to heat or humidity. Their unique formation causes interlocking of individual PaperNuts® for superior protection. They are safe for transport anywhere in the world, including on board ships and aircraft. PaperNuts® are used widely across Europe and the United States.
What is Recycled Kraft Paper?
Recycled Kraft Paper is very economical and offers many beneficial qualities. Environmentally sensitive consumers and producers more and more frequently encourage the use this recycled grade of paper. Recycled Kraft Paper has been successfully used as newspaper bottom wrap, garment underlay paper, textile wrappers, interleaver, internal carton packaging, void filler or dunnage, dust covers, floor protection liners, carrier sheet, paint masking and box/tray liners. Other uses include bundling and stuffing. Recycled Kraft provides less tear and bursting strength and will break down more easily when exposed to friction or moisture when compared to Virgin Kraft Papers.
What is Gray Bogus Paper?
Gray Bogus is a versatile, multipurpose, economical product that provides great absorbency. Because Gray Bogus Paper provides less strength than Recycled Kraft wrapping, it is best used to cover, interleave or fill, not protect, since it absorbs moisture and results in less reinforcing strength than Recycled Kraft Paper. This grade is an exceptional interleaver and also performs well as internal protection from the package itself, serving as furniture wrap within a carton. It is the softest of the recycled grades. It is also used for void filling, lining boxes and barrels and in the meat packaging process to soak up grease. In addition, when coverage, but not strength, is required, Gray Bogus is a good packaging solution See our Products Section to find more eco-friendly packaging products, available directly through our website!
